American Born Moonshine

The ringing of the new year often brings with it hopes for change. We anticipate the continued proliferation of craft distilleries within our great state in 2013. We’re proud to announce the latest change to the Trail will be the addition of Windy Hill Spirits Inc. Founded by former walk-on QB for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Patrick Dillingham recently filed with the SEC (no, the other SEC), a requirement for privately held companies raising capital. The form disclosed Windy Hill Spirits currently has 18 investors and boy we hope John Rich is one of them!

The name of their initial product is expected to be ‘American Born Moonshine’ per their yet-to-be-granted Trademark application. The company also holds Trademarks to ‘Dixie Moon’ and ‘Freedom Moon’, and is in the process of securing rights to ‘Harvest Moon’. In a recent interview with a Notre Dame news source, The Observer, Dillingham said:

“We’re excited to make a product in this country for our generation to be proud of… There’s no national brand of moonshine whiskey today. Our fathers drink Jack Daniels but our generation does not have a whiskey to call our own. We think our generation is the niche.”

Since his football days at Notre Dame, Dillingham has gone on to Stanford, recently graduating with a Master of Business Administration degree. We suspect that will come in handy in this quickly growing, niche market. Pat, welcome to the TNWT. May 2013 bring you and Windy Hill Spirits good fortune.
